Heather Barahmand, LPC
With a deep commitment to providing compassionate therapy, my approach is rooted in a trauma-informed and client-centered perspective. I value serving marginalized communities, including individuals from diverse backgrounds, while also specializing in working with survivors of sexual assault and those who have experienced trauma related to war, displacement, and intergenerational challenges. I offer a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can heal, grow, and rediscover their sense of self.
In my practice, I address a range of mental health concerns, including substance abuse, depression, anxiety, and relational difficulties, all through a trauma-informed lens. Drawing from my graduate degrees in Women's Studies and Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I have developed a keen awareness of intersectional identities and the unique challenges faced by individuals in marginalized groups. By embracing the values of inclusivity and cultural understanding, I strive to create a therapeutic environment that honors each person's experiences and fosters personal growth and healing. As an Iranian-American psychotherapist, I bring a rich cultural perspective to my work, nurturing a sense of belonging and acceptance for all who seek support.
In therapy, I employ evidence-based modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, and humanistic techniques to help clients process their trauma, challenge negative self-perceptions, and empower themselves on their healing journey. I also incorporate psychoeducation, transactional analysis, and mindfulness practices to enhance self-awareness and facilitate personal growth.
My ultimate goal is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and offer culturally competent care to individuals from all walks of life. I firmly believe in the inherent worth of each person and their right to heal, grow, and live authentically. Together, we will embark on a transformative path, navigating your healing journey and working towards creating a fulfilling and resilient life.
