Dr. Jehan Hill | LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois. I graduated with my doctorate in Counselor Education and Counseling from Idaho State University, I have a master’s in School Counseling from Kent State University, and received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (Diversity in Language and Learning) from Arizona State University.
I approach counseling as a courageous space, where clients are able to achieve a deeper understanding of themselves by exploring the meaning-making through past and present experiences. As a counselor, I seek to understand the client’s worldview holistically to foster resiliency and personal growth. Through this exploration, I believe individuals are able to understand their own thoughts and feelings as they strive toward professional and personal goals.
I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in the education system and counseling clinics. My counseling approach is grounded in trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices. This means the therapeutic relationship centers on understanding the clients' culture and cultural wealth while also creating space to discuss systemic barriers and societal wrongs. Additionally, I utilize an eclectic theoretical perspective including person-centered, existentialism, solution-focused, ACT, and CBT.
