Therapist

Bio

No matter who you are, or what you have been through, I believe you have the innate ability to heal and recover - sometimes we just need help to create the space for that healing to take place. That is what I believe therapy can do for people. I use a non-judgmental and compassionate approach and focus on taking the time to learn about each person’s unique experiences. We can focus on deepening our understanding of the how and the why of those difficult emotions, and then work together to find the tools for healing that work for you.

Words I would use to describe my approach include relational, person-centered, somatic or embodied, intersectional, feminist, sex-positive, anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, and holistic. I use Emotion Focused models, Internal Family Systems, DBT, and ACT strategies, somatic work, and always a trauma-informed lens when approaching therapy. The populations and issues that I most enjoy working with include Trauma and abuse survivors, anxiety, depression/mood disorders, grief, boundaries, stress management, crisis intervention, self-esteem, LGBTQIA+ and other sexual minorities, issues of racial and cultural identity, polyamorous/non-monogamous relationships, and working with kink-identified people.

I graduated with a BA in Human Development, with minors in Psychology and Fine Arts, from Washington State University. I then went on to get my MA in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration. From there I have worked in a community mental health setting in Skokie as a therapist and crisis worker, then as a supervisor at a shelter/crisis center in Seattle, and most recently as a director of training and therapist at
another local mental health agency in the western suburbs. In addition to being a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am a trained clinical supervisor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
